I use the paint sample cards with shades of one color to help students understand shades of meaning. As a fourth ...My favorite book to teach is Shiloh. As a fourth grade teacher, this book opened a world unknown to my Florida students. The character development is amazing, both from the characters in the book to the characters of my students as they begin to reveal sides of themselves they do not share with peers.
